أنغويلا

• Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean, one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles.
  أنغويلا هي أقليم ما وراء البحار تابع لبريطانيا في الكاريبي وهي جزيرة من جزر ليوارد من جزر الأنتيل الصغرى التي تقع في أقصى الشمال.
• Barbados achieved independence in 1966 and the remainder of the eastern Caribbean islands in the 1970s and 1980s, but Anguilla and the Turks and Caicos Islands opted to revert to British rule after they had already started on the path to independence.
  ونالت بربادوس استقلالها سنة 1966 أما باقي جزر الكاريبي الشرقية فنالتها في السبعينيات والثمانينيات، إلا أن أنغويلا وجزر تركس وكايكوس فإنها اختارت العودة إلى الحكم البريطاني بعد أن كانت في طريقها إلى الاستقلال.
• Although small in size and separated by only 2 miles (3 km) of water, the two islands were viewed and governed as different states until the late-nineteenth century, when they were forcibly unified along with the island of Anguilla, by the British.
  على الرغم من صغر حجمهما وأن المسافة الفاصلة بينهما لا تتعدى 3 كم (2 ميل) من المياه فإن الجزيرتين اعتبرتا ولايتين مختلفتين حتى أواخر القرن القرن التاسع عشر حيث وحدتا قسرا مع جزيرة أنغويلا من قبل البريطانيين.
