  يرتاد المسجد العديد من الأشخاص كطلاب المدارس والجامعات والمعلمين؛ لأن المسجد يتوسط منطقة مدارس وجامعات، فمن أهم المدارس التي تقع بجانبه كلية الحسين الثانوية التي سمي المسجد باسمها، والتي تعد من أقدم المدارس وأعرقها في عمّان، ومن أهم الجامعات التي تقع حوله كلية عمان الجامعية والتي تبعد عنه ما يقارب 100 متر، والتي تعد من أقدم المعاهد وأعرقها في المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية حيث أُسست الكلية عام 1951م.

  وفي 26 نوفمبر 2015، وبمناسبة الذكرى السنوية العشرين لإعلان برشلونة، وبمبادرة من الرئاستين المشتركتين للاتحاد من أجل المتوسط، عقدت السيدة فيديريكا موغيريني، نائبة رئيس المفوضية الأوروبية والممثلة السامية للاتحاد الأوروبي للشؤون الخارجية والسياسة الأمنية، والسيد ناصر جودة، وزير الخارجية وشؤون المغتربين بالمملكة الأردنية الهاشمية، اجتماعاً غير رسمي لوزراء خارجية الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط في برشلونة لتجديد التزامهم السياسي بتطوير التعاون الإقليمي في إطار الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط.
