• The proper name of Quebec City is Québec (with an acute accent), in both official languages of Canada (Canadian English and Canadian French alike).

• French explorer Samuel de Champlain arrived in 1603 and established the first permanent European settlements at Port Royal (in 1605) and Quebec City (in 1608).
  وصل المستكشف الفرنسي صمويل دو شامبلان في 1603، وأنشأ أول مستوطنة أوروبية دائمة في بورت رويال في 1605 ومدينة كيبك في 1608.
• The Continental Army, which had invaded Quebec in September 1775, suffered a severe blow in the disastrous attack on Quebec City on New Year's Eve in 1775.

  يتسع نهر سانت لورنس ليفتح على بحيرة سانت لويس جنوب غرب الجزيرة، ويضيق عند لاشين رابيدز، ثم يتسع مرّة أخرى على حوض لابريري قبل أن يتحول إلى سانت لورنس مرة أخرى ويتدفق نحو مدينة كيبك.
