• The Fédération Gabonaise du Scoutisme, the national federation of several Scouting organizations of Gabon, was founded under French Equatorial Africa in 1936, although Scouting appeared years before brought by colonists, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1971.

• With competitive French, Belgian and Portuguese activity in the lower Congo River region undermining orderly colonisation of tropical Africa, the Berlin Conference of 1884–85 was held to regulate the competition between the European powers in what was called the "Scramble for Africa" by defining "effective occupation" as the criterion for international recognition of territorial claims.
  تقوض الاستعمار المنظم لأفريقيا الاستوائية مع ازدياد النشاط الفرنسي والبلجيكي والبرتغالي في منطقة نهر الكونغو السفلي، ولتنظيم المنافسة بين القوى الأوروبية في ما يسمى "التدافع على أفريقيا" عقد مؤتمر برلين 1884-1885 لتعريف "الاحتلال الفعال" ليكون المعيار للاعتراف الدولي للمزاعم الإقليمية.
• After completing his primary and secondary education in Brazzaville (then the capital of French Equatorial Africa), Bongo held a job at the Post and Telecommunications Public Services, before joining the French military where he served as a second lieutenant and then as a first lieutenant in the Air Force, in Brazzaville, Bangui and Fort Lamy (present-day N'djamena, Chad) successively, before being honorably discharged as captain.
  وبعد إنهاء دراسته الابتدائية والمتوسطة في برازافيل (عاصمة أفريقيا الاستوائية الفرنسية) وجد بونغو وظيفة في مركز البريد والاتصالات، ثم التحق بالعسكرية، فتخرج منها ضابطا برتبة ملازم بسلاح الجو في برازافيل ثم بانغي وفورت لامي (حاليا إنجامينا في تشاد)، ثم خرج منها برتبة نقيب.
