Khoury pursued a career in business, and by the 1960s had become one of the wealthiest men in Lebanon thanks to his investments in various sectors of the economy. أصبح الشيخ بطرس الخوري من كبار رجال الأعمال، وشكّل منذ ستينيات القرن العشرين إحدى أكبر الطاقات والثروات الوطنيّة اللبنانيّة، وذلك بفضل استثماراته في مختلف القطاعات الاقتصادية.
Khoury was also committed to improving worker productivity, providing funds for vocational training and collaborating with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on the modernization of the Dekwaneh accelerated vocational training center. مبدياً قلقه ازاء انتاجية العمال، قام بطرس الخوري بتمويل التعليم المهني وتعاون مع وزارة العمل والشؤون الاجتماعية اللبنانية على التحديث السريع لمركز التعليم المهني في الدكوانة.
On 22 October 1803, he was ordained deacon at Ely, and afterwards priest, and served as Simeon's curate at the Church of Holy Trinity, taking charge of the neighbouring parish of Lolworth. يوم 22 أكتوبر عام 1803، ارتسم شماسا في إلى، وبعد ذلك تدرج إلى كاهن، وشغل منصب الخوري سمعان في كنيسة الثالوث المقدس، مع كونه قد تقلد المسؤولية عن الرعية المجاورة لولورث.
In 1963, in his capacity as representative of sugar refiners, he advised Prime Minister of Lebanon Rashid Karami on the measures to be taken to meet the country's sugar requirements for the following year. بالإضافة إلى تجارة القمح، ابدع الشيخ بطرس الخوري في انتاج السكر، وفي عام 1963، وبصفته ممثلاُ عن مصافي السكر، أبلغ رئيس مجلس الوزراء اللبناني رشيد كرامي بالاجراءات التي ينبغي اتخاذها لتلبية حاجات الشعب من هذا المنتج لسنة 1964.
Khoury was one of the pillars of Lebanese industry during the second half of the 20th century, and he was a keen supporter of investment of Lebanese capital in the industrial sector, which he advocated as a means of increasing the national income and curbing unemployment. أصبح الشيخ بطرس الخوري أحد أعمدة الصناعة اللبنانية خلال النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين ومؤيداً قوياً لاستثمار رأس المال اللبناني في القطاعات الصناعية، من أجل زيادة الدخل الوطني وتخفيض نسبة البطالة.
In 1952, through several companies founded in conjunction with various business partners from Tripoli Khoury helped establish a free zone in the Port of Tripoli, building port facilities and warehouses and supplying the necessary machinery for the transfer of goods. بالاضافة إلى ذلك، ومن خلال الشركات التي أسسها مع العديد من رجال الاعمال الطرابلسيين، ساهم الشيخ بطرس الخوري عام 1952 في انشاء المنطقة الحرة في مرفأ المينا في طرابلس، حيث قامت شركاته بإنشاء مرافق الميناء ومخازن للتخزين كما قامت بشراء الآلات اللازمة لنقل البضائع، ما ساهم بتعزيز حركة المرفأ والنشاط الصناعي في شمال لبنان.
On the other hand, contributed to Arab Christians in fighting the policy of Turkification pursued by the Assembly of the Union and Progress and has emerged in Aleppo, in particular, Bishop Germanos Farhat and Father Boutros Tallawy, and the school was founded the Patriarchate in the prolific that came out a multitude of flags of the Arab at that point, Christian college as Saint Joseph University and the American University of Beirut and Al-Hikma University in Baghdad and other played leading role in the development of civilization and Arab culture. من جهة أخرى، ساهم المسيحيون العرب في مقارعة سياسة التتريك التي انتهجتها جمعية الاتحاد والترقي وبرز في حلب على وجه الخصوص المطران جرمانوس فرحات والخوري بطرس التلاوي، وتأسست المدرسة البطريركية في غزير التي خرجت عددًا وافرًا من أعلام العربية في تلك المرحلة، ولعبت الجامعات المسيحية كجامعة القديس يوسف والجامعة الأميركية في بيروت وجامعة الحكمة في بغداد وغيرها دورًا رياديًا في تطوير الحضارة والثقافة العربية.
