• In recent years in northwestern Bolivia near Madidi National Park, large groups of peccaries have been reported to have seriously injured or killed people.

  كما أن الحجة القائلة بأن أفضلية الردع على العقاب هي المبرر الرئيسي للعقاب تعد الصفة المميزة لنظرية الاختيار العقلاني، فضلاً عن إمكانية ملاحظة ذلك عند "سيزار بيكاريا" في بحثه عن "الجرائم والعقوبات" (1764) والذي أدان التعذيب وعقوبة الإعدام، و"جيريمي بنثام" الذي انتقد عقوبة الإعدام.
