سواحل البحر

  وكانت جامعة موانئ الدولة المستقلة، مع دول أخرى على الجزر وعلى طول سواحل البحر الأبيض المتوسط، مناسبة بشكل مثالي للتجارة بين منطقة المشرق العربي، الغنية بالموارد الطبيعية وبقية العالم القديم.

  في العصور القديمة، انتشرت الأنشطة التجارية والاستعمارية للقبائل ودول المدينة الإغريقية الثقافة والدين واللغة اليونانية حول أحواض البحر الأبيض المتوسط والبحر الأسود، وخاصةً في صقلية وجنوب إيطاليا (المعروفة أيضاً باسم ماجنا غراسيا)، وإسبانيا وجنوب فرنسا وسواحل البحر الأسود.
