• Like Plato, he sought universals in his philosophy, but unlike Plato he backed up his views with detailed observation, notably of the natural history of the island of Lesbos and the marine life in the island's lagoon at Pyrrha.
  سعى أرسطو مثل أفلاطون إلى تحقيق الفلسفة العالمية في فلسفته، ولكنه أيّد على عكس أفلاطون آراءه بملاحظة مفصلة، لا سيما من التاريخ الطبيعي لجزيرة ليسبوس وعلم الأحياء البحرية في بحيرة جزيرة بيرها.
• The term is especially useful in marine biology, ichthyology, and similar fields, since many marine habitats are continuously connected from Madagascar to Japan and Oceania, and a number of species occur over that range, but are not found in the Atlantic Ocean.
  ويعد هذا المصطلح مفيدًا بشكل خاص في علم الأحياء البحرية وعلم الأسماك وفي المجالات المشابهة، وذلك منذ أن ارتبط العديد من المواطن البحرية بشكل دائم، بداية من مدغشقر إلى اليابان وأوقيانوسيا، وهناك العديد من الأنواع التي توجد في هذا النطاق، ولكن لم يتم العثور عليها في المحيط الأطلسي.
• Marine conservationists rely on a combination of scientific principles derived from marine biology, oceanography, and fisheries science, as well as on human factors such as, demand for marine resources and marine law, economics and policy, in order to determine how to best protect and conserve marine species and ecosystems.
  ويعتمد علماء حماية البيئة البحرية على مجموعة من المبادئ العلمية المستمدة من علم الأحياء البحرية وعلم المحيطات وعلم مصائد الأسماك، وكذلك على عوامل بشرية مثل المطالبة بقانون حماية الموارد البحرية والاقتصاد والسياسة من أجل تحديد أفضل السبل لحماية وحفظ الأنواع البحرية والنظم البيئة.
• Research institutions include the Scientific Institute, founded in 1920 in Rabat, which does fundamental research in the natural sciences, and the Scientific Institute of Maritime Fishing, founded in 1947, in Casablanca, which studies oceanography, marine biology, and topics related to development of the fishing industry.
  وتشمل المؤسسات البحثية في المغرب المعهد العلمي التي تأسس في عام 1920 في الرباط، والذى يركزعلى البحوث الأساسية في العلوم الطبيعية والمعهد العلمي في الصيد البحري، الذي تأسس في عام 1947 في الدار البيضاء، الذي يدرس علم المحيطات و علم الأحياء البحرية والمواضيع ذات الصلة لتطوير صناعة صيد الأسماك.
• The History of Animals contains many accurate eye-witness observations, in particular of the marine biology around the island of Lesbos, such as that the octopus had colour-changing abilities and a sperm-transferring tentacle, that the young of a dogfish grow inside their mother's body, or that the male of a river catfish guards the eggs after the female has left.
  يحتوي تاريخ الحيوانات على العديد من المشاهدات الدقيقة لشهود عيان، لا سيما علم الأحياء البحرية حول جزيرة ليسبوس، مثل أن الأخطبوط لديه قدرات تغير اللون ونقل الحيوانات المنوية، وأن صغار كلب البحر ينمون داخل جسد أمهم، أو أن ذكر سمك قرموط النهر يحرس البيض بعد مغادرة الأنثى.
