  تأثرت رؤية المصريين للوقت ببيئتهم، ففي كل يوم تشرق الشمس وتغرب لتضئ الأرض وتنظم النشاط البشري، وفي كل عام تغمر مياه نهر النيل فتؤدي إلى تجديد خصوبة التربة والسماح بزراعة عالية الإنتاج والتى بدورها عززت الحضارة المصرية.
