• State-owned media reported that there was a massive gun battle between the army and Al Qaeda forces in the province of Abyan and Marib, with soldiers killing fifteen terrorists and arresting others.
  ذكرت وسائل الإعلام المملوكة للدولة أن هناك معركة مسلحة واسعة النطاق بين الجيش وقوات القاعدة في محافظة أبين ومأرب، مع الجنود مما أسفر عن مقتل خمسة عشر من الإرهابيين وإلقاء القبض على آخرين.
• According to local residents and unnamed American and Yemeni government officials, on July 14, 2011 US manned aircraft or drones attacked and destroyed a police station in Mudiya in Abyan Governorate which had been occupied by al-Qaeda militants.
  وفقا للسكان المحليين، ومسؤولي الحكومة الأمريكية ويمني لم يكشف عن اسمه، على 14 يوليه 2011 لنا المأهولة طائرات أو طائرات بدون طيار هاجمت ودمرت مركزا للشرطة في موديا في محافظة أبين التي كانت تحتلها القاعدة المسلحين.
• Many tribes had previously had close ties with the militants, but began supporting government troops in their efforts to dislodge Islamists from Abyan after an estimated 54,000 civilians were forced to flee their homes as militants tried to establish control over Zinjibar and Abyan province.
  العديد من القبائل كان سابقا علاقات وثيقة مع المسلحين، ولكن بدأ دعم قوات الحكومة في جهودها الرامية إلى إزاحة الإسلاميين من أبين بعد 54,000 المقدرة مدنيين أجبروا على الفرار من ديارهم كما حاول المسلحون فرض سيطرتها على محافظة أبين و زنجبار .
