• The next serious Kurdish secession attempt was made by Ahmed Barzani's younger brother Mustafa Barzani in 1943, but that revolt failed as well, resulting in the exiling of Mustafa to Iran, where he participated in an attempt to form the Kurdish Republic of Mahabad.
  كانت محاولة الانفصال الكردية التالية تحت قيادة الأخ الأصغر لأحمد البارزاني وهو مصطفى البارزاني في 1943، لكن قمعت الثورة كما سابقاتها، وتسببت في نفي مصطفى إلى إيران، حيث شارك هناك في محاولة انفصال الأكراد تحت لواء جمهورية مهاباد.
• Both parties challenged the central Iranian government after World War II.The separatist conflict escalated in 1945, fuelled by Soviet Union support to the Kurds, and eventually leading to the Iran crisis of 1946, which included an attempt of KDPI to establish the independent Republic of Mahabad in Iranian Kurdistan.
