Goguryeo emerged on the north and south banks of the Yalu (Amrok) River, in the wake of Gojoseon's fall. ظهرت غوغوريو في شمالي وجنوب نهر يالو (أنموك)، في أعقاب سقوط غوجوسون.

Goguryeo was the first Korean kingdom to adopt Buddhism as the state religion in 372, in King Sosurim's reign. تعتبر غوغوريو أول مملكة كورية تعتمد البوذية كدين لها في 372 بعد الميلاد, في عهد الملك سوسرم.
