  تُجرى عملية تشويه الأعضاء التناسليّة في عدة بلدان، ولا سيَّما في أفريقيا، حيث تتضمن 85% من عمليات تشويه الأعضاء التناسليّة الأنثويّة استئصال البظر أو الختان، و بدرجة أقل في أجزاء أخرى من الشرق الأوسط و جنوب غرب أفريقيا، على الفتيات بدءاً من عمر عدة أيام و حتى منتصف المراهقة، و غالباً بغية خفض الرغبة الجنسيّة في محاولة للحفاظ على العذريّة المهبليّة.
• United Nations Security Council Resolution 245, adopted on January 25, 1968, after the government of the Republic of South Africa refused to comply with a General Assembly resolution 2324 and continued to illegally try detainees from South West Africa, the Council demanded that those prisoners be released and repatriated and invited all states to exert their influence in order to induce the South Africans government to comply with the resolution.
  (ديسمبر 2018) قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 245، الذي اعتمد في 25 يناير 1968، بعد أن رفضت حكومة جمهورية جنوب أفريقيا الامتثال لقرار الجمعية العامة 2324 وواصلت محاكمة المحتجزين من جنوب غرب أفريقيا بصورة غير شرعية، وطالب المجلس الإفراج عن هؤلاء المعتقلين وإعادتهم إلى أوطانهم ودعا جميع الدول إلى ممارسة نفوذها من أجل حمل حكومة جنوب أفريقيا على الامتثال للقرار.
