• The Council reaffirmed the necessity of the strict observance of the cease-fire resolutions and demanded that the member states concerned cease immediately all prohibited military activities in the area and co-operate fully and promptly with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization.
  وأكد المجلس على ضرورة التقييد الصارم بقرارات وقف إطلاق النار وطالب الدول الأعضاء المعنية بالوقف الفوري لأي أنشطة عسكرية محظورة في المنطقة والتعاون الكامل والفوري مع هيئة الأمم المتحدة لمراقبة الهدنة.
• The research in “Study on Ways and Methods to Eliminate Sexual Harassment in Egypt” conducted by UN Women in 2013, reported that 82.6 percent of women said they did not feel safe in the street.
  البحث في «دراسة حول طرق ومناههج القضاء على التحرش الجنسي في مصر»، والذي أجرته هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة عام 2013، ذكرت أن 82.6% من النساء قد ذكرن أنهن يشعرن بقلة الأمان، خاصةً حين يستعملن مواصلة من المواصلات العامة.
• The worst of these came on 25 July 2006, when four unarmed UNTSO peacekeepers from Austria, China, Finland and Canada were killed in an Israeli air strike on a UN observation post in southern Lebanon.
  كان أسوأها في 25 يوليو 2006 عندما لقى أربعة من حفظة السلام غير المسلحين التابعين لهيئة الأمم المتحدة لمراقبة الهدنة من النمسا والصين وفنلندا وكندا مصرعهم في غارة جوية إسرائيلية على مركز مراقبة تابع للأمم المتحدة في جنوب لبنان.
• Formed in 1923, the Council is the UN-accredited global energy body, representing the entire energy spectrum, with more than 3,000 member organisations located in over 90 countries and drawn from governments, private and state corporations, academia, NGOs and energy-related stakeholders.
  في عام 1923، تم إعتماد المجلس من هيئة الأمم المتحدة كهيئة عالمية معتمدة للطاقة بكل أشكالها وصورها، فمع أكثر من 3000 منظمة حكومية أو خاصة أو منظمات أكاديمية داخلها من أكثر من 90 دولة.
• In 1958 Sweden appointed her as its Permanent Representative to the United Nations (in place of Gunnar Jarring) and she was the first female to hold that post in the UN body which then consisted of 60 ambassadors from various countries.
  في عام 1958 ، عينتها السويد كممثلة دائمة لها لدى الأمم المتحدة (بدلاً من جونار جرينج) وكانت أول امرأة تشغل هذا المنصب في هيئة الأمم المتحدة التي كانت تتألف وقتها من 60 سفيرا من مختلف البلدان.
• UN Women believe that violence against women "is rooted in gender-based discrimination and social norms and gender stereotypes that perpetuate such violence", and advocate moving from supporting victims to prevention, through addressing root and structural causes.
  تعتقد هيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة أن العنف ضد المرأة "متجذّر في التمييز القائم على أساس الجنس والأعراف الاجتماعيّة والقوالب النمطيّة الجنسانيّة التي تكرّس لمثل هذا العنف"، وتدعو للانتقال من دعم الضحايا إلى منع وقوع هذا العنف، من خلال معالجة الأسباب الجذريّة والبنيويّة.
• The committee is authorized in Article 22 of the CEDAW to invite specialized U.N. agencies such as the United Nations Development Programme to deliver reports discussing women's rights issues in the state under discussion.
  وأيضًا من حقوق اللجنة التي تكفلها لها المادة رقم 22 من الاتفاقية أن لها السلطة لدعوة أحد المنظمات المتخصصة من مؤسسات هيئة الأمم المتحدة مثل « برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي» وذلك لإيصال رسائل محددة للبلاد التي تمر بقضايا معينة وتناقش هذه القضايا ضمن تقاريرها للجنة .
• On 16 July, the Lebanese special envoy to the UN, Nouhad Mahmoud, claimed that the United States was obstructing the Security Council's attempt to broker a ceasefire, as the U.S. was the sole member of the 15-nation UN body to oppose any council action.
  في 16 يوليو ادعى المبعوث اللبناني الخاص لدى الأمم المتحدة نهاد محمود أن الولايات المتحدة تعرقل محاولة مجلس الأمن للتوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار حيث كانت الولايات المتحدة العضو الوحيد في هيئة الأمم المتحدة المكونة من 15 دولة لمعارضة أي إجراء للمجلس.
• Earlier in the week Maj. Gen. Robert Mood, head of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), had expressed worries that Syria was rushing into an uncontrollable spiral of sectarian violence and following the latest bombings urged the perpetrators to refrain from violence and let the peace process move forward.
  وكان الجنرال روبرت مود، رئيس هيئة الأمم المتحدة لمراقبة الهدنة، قد أعرب في وقت سابق من الأسبوع عن قلقه من أن سوريا تسرع في دوامة العنف الطائفي التي لا يمكن السيطرة عليها، وفي أعقاب التفجيرات الأخيرة حثت الجناة على الامتناع عن العنف، والسماح لعملية السلام بالمضي قدما.
• The project is based on the contention that, in spite of the billions of dollars spent on global challenges by the United Nations, the governments of wealthy nations, foundations, charities, and non-governmental organizations, the money spent on problems such as malnutrition and climate change is not sufficient to meet many internationally agreed targets.
  يستند المشروع إلى الافتراض القائل بأنه بالرغم من مليارات الدولارات التي تنفقها هيئة الأمم المتحدة، وحكومات الدول الغنية، والمؤسسات، والمشروعات الخيرية، والمنظمات غير الحكومية، على التحديات العالمية، فمقدار الأموال التي تُنفَق على مشكلات، مثل سوء التغذية وتغير المناخ، لا تفي بالكثير من الأهداف المراد تحقيقها عالميًا.
