On 11 June 1865 the naval Battle of Riachuelo the Brazilian fleet commanded by Admiral Francisco Manoel Barroso da Silva destroyed the Paraguayan navy and prevented the Paraguayans from permanently occupying Argentine territory. ووقعت معركة رياتشويلو البحرية في 11 يونيو من عام 1865، وفاز فيها الأسطول البرازيلي بقيادة الأدميرال فرانشيسكو مانويل باروسو دا سيلفا حيث حطم الأسطول البارجواياني ومنع البارجوايانيين من احتلال الأراضي الأرجنتينية بشكل دائم.

Battle of Curzola (today Korčula, southern Dalmatia, now in Croatia) was a naval battle which was fought on September 9, 1298 between the Genoese and Venetian navies; it was a disaster for Venice, a major setback among many battles fought in the 13th and 14th centuries between Pisa, Genoa and Venice in a long series of wars for the control of Mediterranean and Levantine trade. معركة كورزولا هي معركة بحرية دارت في 9 سبتمبر 1298 بين أساطيل جنوة والبندقية؛ كانت كارثة بندقية ونكسة كبيرة من بين العديد من المعارك في القرنين الثالث عشر والرابع عشر بين بيزا وجنوة والبندقية في سلسلة طويلة من الحروب من أجل السيطرة على تجارة البحر الأبيض المتوسط وبلاد الشام.
