• Blood pressure rises with age in childhood and, in children, hypertension is defined as an average systolic or diastolic blood pressure on three or more occasions equal or higher than the 95th percentile appropriate for the sex, age and height of the child.

  الهدفُ الأوّليّ من علاج الاعتلال الدماغيّ بارتفاع ضغط الدّم هو تقليل ضغط الدّم الانبساطيّ إلى 100-105 مم زئبقيّ، و يجب تحقيق هذا الهدف في غضون 2-6 ساعاتٍ، بحيث لا يزيد الانخفاض الأوّليّ في ضغط الدم عن 25% من القيمة الأوّلية للضغط، على الأكثر.
• A number of specific recommendations have been made for women including taking aspirin after the 11th week of pregnancy if there is a history of previous chronic high blood pressure and taking blood pressure medications during pregnancy if the blood pressure is greater than 150 mmHg systolic or greater than 100 mmHg diastolic.
