  الهدف من الطب التنبؤي هو التنبؤ بالمرض في المستقبل حيث العاملين في مجال الرعاية الصحية والمرضى أنفسهم يمكن أن تكون لهم سباقية في تأسيس وتعديل نمط الحياة وزيادة مراقبة الطبيب، مثل امتحانات النصف السنوية لجلد الجسم بالكامل بواسطه طبيب الأمراض الجلديه أو الباطني واذا وجد ان أحد مرضاهم لديه خطر متزايد في سرطان الجلد أو رسم القلب وأمراض القلب حيث يكون فحص من قبل طبيب القلب ووجد ان المريض لديه زيادة خطر في عدم انتظام ضربات القلب.
