• Spain's National Day (Fiesta Nacional de España) is 12 October, the anniversary of the Discovery of America and commemorate Our Lady of the Pillar feast, patroness of Aragon and throughout Spain.
  يحل يوم إسبانيا الوطني في 12 أكتوبر، بينما يحتفل بذكرى اكتشاف أمريكا وعيد ذكرى سيدة العمود حامية أراغون في جميع أنحاء إسبانيا.
• Following the discovery of America and the settlement of certain Caribbean islands, such as Cuba, Spanish conquistadors Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro were carried by the Spanish navy to the mainland, where they conquered Mexico and Peru respectively.

• Richard Hakluyt was an English writer who is remembered for his efforts in promoting and supporting the settlement of North America by the English through his works, notably Divers Voyages Touching the Discoverie of America (1582) and The Principal Navigations, Voiages, Traffiques and Discoveries of the English Nation (1598–1600).
  ريتشارد هاكلوت هو كاتبٌ إنجليزي يذكره التاريخ خصيصًا لجهوده في تعزيز الاستيطان في أمريكا الشمالية وتدعيمه عن طريق الإنجليز خلال أعماله خاصةً رحلات الغواصين المؤثرة في اكتشاف أمريكا (1582) والمِلاحات والرحلات والاكتشافات الرئيسية للأمة الإنجليزية (1598–1600).
