عاصِمة

  بعدَ غزو أفغانستان من قِبل الولايات المتحدة عام 2011؛ انتقلَ الزرقاوي إلى العراق ثم تلقى العلاج الطبي في العاصِمة بغداد بعدما تعرّض لإصابة بليغة نوعًا ما في ساقه.

  عبر التاريخ هزّ شماخى 11 زلزال كبير، لكن في كل مرة يُعاد بناء المدينة بواسطة السُكان وذلك لدورها كعاصِمة إدارية واقتصادية لشيروان، وواحِدة من المدن الرئيسية على طريق الحرير.

  سبقَ كل هذه الهجمات تفجير انتحاري آخر استهدفَ مصنع غاز مملوكٍ للدولة في التاجي شمال بغداد قتلَ 14 شخصا على الأقل كما شهدت العاصِمة موجة أخرى من الهجمات التي قتل فيها أكثر من مائة شخص.
