• Haydar joined the Ba'ath Party of Michel Aflaq as a schoolboy and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the Syrian Army in 1952, after studying at the Homs Military Academy.

  يقع ستاد الكلية الحربية على بعد 7 أميال تقريباً من ستاد القاهرة , على الطريق المتجه إلى مطار القاهرة الدولي في شمال شرق منطقة مصر الجديدة.

  كان ناصر متأثراً إلى حد كبير بالقومية المصرية، التي اعتنقها السياسي مصطفى كامل والشاعر أحمد شوقي، ومدربه في الكلية الحربية، عزيز المصري، الذي أعرب عبد الناصر عن امتنانه له في مقابلة صحفية سنة 1961.
