• Sultan Abdulhamid II appointed Vasa as Governor General (Mutessarıf) of Mount Lebanon on June 18, 1882, a post reserved by international treaty for a Catholic of Ottoman nationality after the civil unrest and French occupation of 1860.
  في 9 مايو 1882 أصبح الحاكم العام لمتصرفية جبل لبنان، وهو منصب أنشأ بعد معاهدة دولية خصيصا للكاثوليكيين ذوي الجنسية العثمانية بعد الاضطرابات المدنية والاحتلال الفرنسي من عام 1860م.
