With the entry into force in 1944 of Law 2002 – the National Electrification Law, which made producing hydroelectric power an absolute priority, the Tejo Power Station took on a secondary role in the electricity sector due to the construction of the first major hydroelectric station, the Castelo do Bode dam, which began operating in 1951, gradually turning the Tejo Power Station into a reserve station. مع بدأ العمل بقانون 2002 لسنة 1944 – فانون تنظيم الطاقة الكهربائية المحلية والذي اعطي الاولوية المطلقة لتوليد الطاقة الكهرومائية، تحول دور محطة توليد الكهرباء تيجو إلى دور ثانوي في قطاع الكهرباء بعد انشاء أول وأكبر محطة للطاقة الكهرومائية في كاستيلو دي بودي والذي بدأ في العمل عام 1951 والتي حولت محطة تيجو بدورها إلى محطة احتياطية لتوليد الكهرباء.
