  في الولايات المتحدة، تم إعطاء إشعاعات أنفية بالراديوم للأطفال أيضًا لمنع مشاكل الأذن الوسطى أو اللوزتين من أواخر أربعينيات القرن العشرين حتى أوائل السبعينيات.
• This maneuver, when used as a tool to equalize middle ear pressure, carries with it the risk of auditory damage from over pressurization of the middle ear.
  وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن مناورة فالسالفا عندما تُستخدم لتحقيق تعادل ضغط الأذن الوسطى، فإنها تحمل في طياتها بعض الأخطار خطر وقوع ضرر على حاسة السمع من خلال تزايد الضغط بقوة في الأذن الوسطى .

  وتشكل اللقاحات حمولة مناعية ضئيلة بالمقارنة مع مسببات الأمراض التي يواجهها الطفل بشكل طبيعي، وتشكل حالات الطفولة الشائعة مثل الحمى وأمراض الأذن الوسطى تحديا أكبر بكثير للجهاز المناعي من اللقاحات، وقد أظهرت الدراسات أن اللقاحات، وحتى اللقاحات المتزامنة المتعددة، لا تضعف الجهاز المناعي.
