Documents submitted by Al-Attiya’s lawyers state that in 1997, HBJ offered to buy 20,000 square meters of land from Al-Attiya in west Doha. تشير الوثائق التي قدمها محامو فواز إلى أن حمد عرض في عام 1997 شراء 20 ألف متر مربع من فواز في غرب الدوحة.
After his release, HBJ filed another case against Attiya claiming that he had forged a check worth 3 million riyals and as a result owed money to Qatar National Bank. بعد الإفراج عنه رفع حمد قضية أخرى ضد فواز مدعيا أنه قام بتزوير شيك بقيمة 3 ملايين ريال قطري ونتيجة لذلك كان مستحقا على بنك قطر الوطني.

Article 42 of this convention states that “a diplomat shall not in the receiving State practise for personal profit any professional or commercial activity” thereby disallowing the acquisition in which HBJ engaged. تنص المادة 42 من هذه الاتفاقية على أنه "لا يجوز للدبلوماسي أن يمارس أي نشاط مهني أو تجاري في ممارسة الدولة المستقبلة للربح الشخصي" مما يمنعه بالتالي من حيازة حمد.
HBJ denies all claims against him in regards to Fawaz Al-Attiya and says that he has diplomatic immunity and state immunity given his diplomatic position in London, leaving London’s High Court without jurisdiction. ينفي حمد جميع الادعاءات ضده فيما يتعلق بفواز العطية ويقول أنه يتمتع بالحصانة الدبلوماسية وحصانة الدولة نظرا لموقفه الدبلوماسي في لندن مما يترك المحكمة العليا في لندن بدون ولاية قضائية.
