The Great Mosque of Kairouan (in Tunisia) is considered the ancestor of all the mosques in the western Islamic world. يعتبر جامع القيروان الكبير أباً لجميع المساجد في الغرب الإسلامي.

The Iraqi military stated on 16 May that the PMU captured three villages to the north and south of al-Qairawan in addition to clashing in another village. 16 مايو وذكر الجيش العراقي أن قوات الحشد الشعبى استولت على ثلاث قرى في شمال وجنوب القيروان بالإضافة إلى اشتباك في قرية أخرى.
