As Prime Minister, Rainilaiarivony actively sought to modernize the administration of the state, in order to strengthen and protect Madagascar against the political designs of the British and French colonial empires. وبصفته رئيسًا للوزراء، فكر رينيليارفوني مليًا في تحديث نظام الإدارة بالدولة، من أجل تعزيز وحماية مدغشقر من نظم الإدارة السياسية في البريطانية والإمبراطورية الاستعمارية الفرنسية.
On 21 February 1869, she entered into a political marriage with her Prime Minister, Rainilaiarivony, in a public ceremony at Andohalo wherein the court officially underwent conversion to Christianity. وفي الأول والعشرين من فبراير عام 1869م دخلت حيز الزواج السياسي عندما تزوجت من رئيس وزراءها، رينيليارفوني،في احتفال علني في مدينة أندوهالو حيث خضع الديوان رسميا إلى اعتناق المسيحية.
Although holding him in high esteem, the French colonial authority deposed the Prime Minister and exiled him to French Algeria, where he died less than a year later in August 1896. وعلى الرغم من التقدير الكبير الذي حظي به، تخلصت السلطات الفرنسية الاستعمارية من رينيليارفوني كرئيس للوزراء ونفته إلى الجزائر الفرنسية، حيث توفي بعد أقل من عام في أغسطس 1896م.
In that position he oversaw continuing efforts to maintain royal authority in the outlying regions of Madagascar and acted as adviser to his brother, who had been promoted to Prime Minister in 1852. وبشغله هذا المنصب أشرف رينيليارفوني على مواصلة الجهود في الحفاظ على السلطة الحاكمة في المناطق النائية من مدغشقر وعمل كمستشار لأخيه، الذي اعتلى منصب رئيس الوزراء عام 1852م.
His diplomatic skills and military acumen assured the defense of Madagascar during the Franco-Hova Wars, successfully preserving his country's sovereignty until a French column captured the royal palace in September 1895. ضمنت مهارة رينيليارفوني الدبلوماسية إلى جانب فطنته العسكرية والدفاع عن مدغشقر إبان حروب الفرنك-هوفا، ونجح في الحفاظ على سيادة بلاده إلى أن استولت فرنسا الاستعمارية على القصر الملكي في سبتمبر 1895م.
The position of Prime Minister was then filled by his younger brother Rainilaiarivony, who married Queen Rasoherina and then, upon her death, helped to designate Ranavalona II the next monarch of Madagascar and consequently married her to retain his position. ثم تم شَغل منصب رئيس الوزراء من قبل أخيه الأصغر رينيليارفوني والذي تزوج الملكة راسوهيرينا ومن ثم ،بعد وفاتها، ساعد في تعيين رانافالونا الثانية كملكة مدغشقر ولذلك تزوجها ليحتفظ بمنصبه.
