It was first described for an occurrence in Varmland, Sweden in 1854 and named for Swedish chemist Lars Fredrik Svanberg (1805–1878). وقد وُصف ظهوره لأول مرة في فارملاند، السويد في عام 1854 م، وسمّي على اسم الكيميائي السويدي لارس فريدريك سفانبرغ (1805-1878).
The legend says that when the judge of the county of Värmland reassembled the court, after the great black plague had passed Sweden in 1350, they were two members short. وتقول الأسطورة إنه عندما قام قاضي محكمة فارملاند بإعادة اجتماع المحكمة، بعد انتهاء الطاعون الأسود العظيم في السويد عام 1350، أصبحتا عضوتين في المحكمة.
In 866, Harald made the first of a series of conquests over the many petty kingdoms which would compose all of Norway, including Värmland in Sweden, which had sworn allegiance to the Swedish saga-king Erik Eymundsson (whose historicity is not confirmed). في سنة 866 م بدأ هارالد أو سلسلة غزوات على العديد من الممالك الضئيلة التي تشكل كل النرويج، متضمنةً فارملاند في السويد التي أقسمت أن توالي الملك السويد إريك إيموندسون.
