It is administered as a single district, Kecamatan Pulau Haruku, with a 2010 census population of 24,170. وهي تدار كوحدة منفردة تُسمى، كيكاتان بولاو هاروكو بلغ عدد سكانها حسب تعداد 2010 للسكان حوالي 24,170 نسمة.
The Qeqqata municipality however is planning the town expansion in the 2010s, with the area north of the Kangerluarsunnguaq Bay reserved for real estate. ومع ذلك، بدأت بلدية كيكاتا بالتخطيط لتوسيع البلدة في عقد 2010 من القرن الواحد والعشرين، خاصة في منطقة شمال خليج كانجيرلوارسونجواك لبناء عقارات جديدة.

Until 2008 Sisimiut had been the administrative center of Sisimiut Municipality, which was then incorporated into the new Qeqqata Municipality on 1 January 2009, with Sisimiut retaining its status as the administrative center of the new unit, consisting also of the former Maniitsoq Municipality and the previously unincorporated area of Kangerlussuaq. حتى عام 2008، كانت سيسيميوت هي المركز الإداري لبلدية سيسيميوت، وذلك قبل إندماجها مع بلدية كيكاتا الجديدة في 1 يناير 2009، مع إبقاء سيسيميوت على مكانتها كمركز إداري لهذه البلدية الجديدة التي تتألف أيضاً من بلدية مانيستوك السابقة.
