The work was composed while the Báb was imprisoned in Maku, Iran. وتمت كتابة الكتاب حين كان الباب مسجونا في ماكو، إيران.
The Báb and a companion were suspended on a wall and a large firing squad prepared to shoot. ثم عُلِّق الباب ومرافقه على الجدار واستعدت فرقة كبيرة من الجنود لإطلاق النار.
During his incarceration there, the Báb began his most important work, the Persian Bayán, which he never finished. وأثناء سجنه هناك، بدأ الباب أهم أعماله "بيان فارس" الذي لم ينته منه أبداً.
Then the Prime Minister ordered the Báb back to Tabriz, where the government called on religious authorities to put the Báb on trial for blasphemy and apostasy. لذلك، طلب الوزير الأولى أن يعود الباب إلى تبريز حيث دعت الحكومةُ السلطاتِ الدينيةِ لمحاكمة الباب بتهمة الكفر والردة.

The Báb initially attracted most of the followers of the Shaykhí movement, but soon his teachings went far beyond those roots and attracted prominent followers across Iran. في البداية، جذب الباب أتباع الحركة الشيخية؛ لكن بعد ذلك ذهبت تعاليمه بعيداً كل البعد عن تلك الجذور وجذب أتباعاً بارزين في إيران.
On the morning of July 9, 1850, the Báb was taken to the courtyard of the barracks in which he was being held, where thousands of people had gathered to watch. وفي صباح 9 يوليو 1850 أُخِذَ الباب إلى فناء الثكنة التي أُحضر إليها، حيث تجمع آلاف الأشخاص ليشاهدوا مراسم الإعدام.
After being house arrest in Shiraz from June 1845 to September 1846, the Báb spent several months in Isfahan debating clergy, many who became sympathetic. بعد القبض عليه من منزله في شيراز من يوليو 1845م إلى سبتمبر 1846م قضى الباب عدة أشهر في أصفهان يناظر علماء الدين الذين أصبح الكثير منهم متعاطفين معه.
After the order was given to shoot and the smoke cleared, the Báb was no longer in the courtyard and his companion stood there unharmed; the bullets apparently had not harmed either man, but had cut the rope suspending them from the wall. وبعد أن أُصدِرَ الأمر بإطلاق النار قام الجنود بالإطلاق فامتلأت الساحة بالدخان، وبعد أن اختفى الدخان فوجئ الجميع بان الباب لم يعد موجوداً في الفناء كما أن مرافقه وقف هناك سليماً دون خدش؛ وفيما يبدو أن الرصاصات لم تؤذِ أيّاً من الرجلين بل قطعت الحبل الذي عُلِّق منه الباب ومرافقه.
