Due to their intricate architectural features and historical significance, Kirkbride Plan hospitals have attracted conservation efforts from local and national groups, and (as of 2016) approximately 30 of the buildings have been registered with National Register of Historic Places. نظراً لخصائصها المعماريّة المعقّدة وأهميّتها التّاريخيّة، اجتذبت مستشفيات كيركبرايد الكثير من الجهود من أجل الحفاظ عليها، وحتّى عام 2016م تم تسجيل نحو 30 من هذه المستشفيات في السجّل الوطنيّ للأماكن التّاريخيّة.
